Written in 2003 for cello and later revised for violin in 2006, Completion began as an investigation of pitch economy, which then developed into an exploration of nested tonalities within the octatonic realm. The concept of completion has been treated as both cyclical, a return to a beginning, and linear, a journey to the undiscovered--Unhurried, chant-like, moaning, incisive, beseeching, wailing, profound, mysterious, heavy, arresting, interrupting rumbling, sparkling, soaring, sweeping, dirty, passionate, gritty, resolute, lacerating, frantic, reposed.
